- FAMILY-OWNED & OPERATED Hi, my name is Matt. I am the owner of The Import Store, TheImportStore.com and TheImportStoreOnline.com. We are a third generation retailer. My dad, Dan Kirkham, started this business in 1984, and taught me the ropes, based on his 40-year retail career. My son 8 year old Joe Kirkham is the little guy who helped me understand how fun Webkinz are. He is also earning extra allowance by working with me in packing Webkinz orders. He has also helped with insite such as "Put them in the box gently daddy. They are Webkinz" and "We better not get it wrong or there will be a sad kid somewhere". The Import Store philosophy is to buy stuff people like at hard-to-believe prices and keep inventory turning. As an independent in a sea of national chains, we succeed by placing the highest value on personal service, hiring a great staff, and treating customers right.
